Nov 7, 2006 Nashville
lost its final matrix game to Life this
past weekend. In a nutshell, Life was
very well organized when it comes to attacking.
They were not going to fight it out with
you in the forwards. Their game is to
get the ball and spin it out to the backs
ASAP! Their backs are very skilled and
fast and they made very few handling errors.
If you don't put pressure on them, then
they will run all day with plenty of support.
That's it. We made too many handling errors
and they ran thru our back defense. Back
to work for the Spring 2007 season ...
and go forward with plans to compete in
the D1 CR3 play-offs. Fall matrix record,
1-1. Overall, 6-1.
Outlaws Win First Shootout
Nashville Outlaws 37 - Atlanta Renegades 33
Nashville, TN - Oct. 13, 2006
The Nashville Outlaws started
the South matrix season off with a dramatic
come-from-behind win on a sunny, breezy
day against last year's Elite 8 finisher,
the Atlanta Renegades, in Nashville Saturday.
The Gades jumped out to a 26-7 halftime
lead by capitalizing on Nashville's porous
defense to slice though many holes and
finish several decent movements.
But Nashville righted the
ship after making a few replacements at
the break which seemed to spark the Outlaws
who scored in the first minute of the
second stanza and proceeded to power back
into the game with 27 unanswered points
on top of more committed defense and great
go-forward from the packled by Chris Ryan
and Derek Wolfe, a recent back convert.
University of Tennessee
grads David Ellis and Brett Jones came
on and proved they belonged at the Men's
DI level with solid defensive efforts
coupled with shifty running to help the
Nashville side take the lead. The Gades
then
clawed back within one point in the final minutes before Nashville
iced it at the whistle with a converted penalty kick.

The NRFC traveled to Hunstville this past weekend. The boys played
2 games. The early game was against Columbus/Montgomery and it was
mostly a sloppy affair. In the first half, we left many points on
the board and looked generally unfocused. We matched there bruising
style of smash and grind and knocked on a ton of loose ball. Second
half seemed to have a little more organization and we put some phases
together. We gave up no points and our defense was mostly good.
Kevin Handerhan was the man-of-the-match for his continued hard
work throughout as well as a nice long run for a try at the end.
Final score, 38-0.
Second game was against
Albright College and we were pretty organized
as well. Everyone got some game time and
we basically ran our pattern. Good showing
by the collegiate side. We gave up 2 tries.
Rob Haley was all over the place at center
and scored a couple of tries. Pledger
and Forbes put in the hardwork up front,
Cayo had some strong runs and Chris G.
was outstanding with his conversions going
7 for 8. Final score, 56-14.

The NRFC played Memphis this past weekend. "A" side played
2 - 30 minute halves while the B side got one 30 minute run. Play
was generally decent with our pattern and fitness improving for
the most part. More work needs to be done heading into our Matrix
schedule. Hopefully we can get some good game time competitio
the Huntsville tournament the Oct. 7 weekend.
